Promotions and Vouchers

This guide explains how to find, use, and redeem promotion codes and vouchers to save money on your bookings.

Promotions, Vouchers, and Gift Cards at a Glance

Sessiq has three related but distinct ways to save on a booking. Knowing which one you have makes the rest of this guide easier to follow:

TypeWhat it isHow it works
PromotionA discount code from a campaign or offerApplies a rule — a percentage or fixed amount off. It has no balance, and many customers can use the same code.
VoucherA code with a stored money balanceYou spend down its balance. It belongs to you, and any unused balance stays on the code for a future booking.
Gift cardA voucher that someone purchasedOnce you have the code it works exactly like any other voucher — it simply started life as a paid purchase with a set amount.

In short: a promotion is a rule that calculates a discount; a voucher is money you spend down; a gift card is a voucher that was bought. Every gift card is a voucher, but not every voucher is a gift card — venues can also issue vouchers directly (for example, as refund credit or a goodwill gesture).

One practical difference: because a promotion isn't consumed, cancelling a booking simply drops the discount. A voucher (including a gift card) holds real money, so if you cancel, the balance you used is restored to the voucher for next time.

Finding Promotion Codes

Using Promotion Codes

How to Apply a Code

  1. Search for availability and select your slot
  2. Review your booking details
  3. Look for "Promotion Code" or "Discount Code" field
  4. Enter your promotion code
  5. Click "Apply" or "Validate"
  6. Code is validated and discount applied
  7. Pricing updates automatically

After Creating Hold:

  • Some codes can be applied after creating hold
  • Enter code on booking details page
  • Click "Apply Promotion"
  • Pricing recalculates with discount

Code Validation

What Happens When You Apply:

  1. System validates code is active
  2. Checks if code applies to your booking
  3. Verifies minimum spend requirements
  4. Applies discount if valid
  5. Updates pricing breakdown

If Code is Invalid:

  • Error message explains why
  • Common reasons:
    • Code expired
    • Minimum spend not met
    • Code doesn't apply to selected product
    • Usage limit reached

Promotion Types

Percentage Discount

Example: "SUMMER25" = 25% off
Booking: €100
Discount: €25
You Pay: €75

Fixed Amount Discount

Example: "SAVE10" = €10 off
Booking: €100
Discount: €10
You Pay: €90

Maximum Discount Cap Some percentage codes have maximum savings:

Example: "PROMO50" = 50% off, max €100 discount
Booking: €500
Discount: €100 (not €250 due to cap)
You Pay: €400

Promotion Rules

Common Restrictions:

  • Minimum Spend: Must spend at least €X to use
  • Product Restrictions: Only applies to specific products
  • Date Restrictions: Only valid on certain dates
  • Usage Limits: Limited number of uses (total or per customer)
  • Stacking Rules: May or may not combine with other codes

Example Restrictions:

  • "Minimum spend: €50"
  • "Valid until: December 31, 2025"
  • "One use per customer"
  • "Cannot combine with other offers"

Promotion Stacking

What is Stacking?

Stacking means using multiple promotions together on the same booking.

Stackable Promotions:

  • Can be combined with other stackable codes
  • Discounts applied in sequence
  • Total savings can be significant

Non-Stackable Promotions:

  • Cannot be combined with other codes
  • Only one code can be applied
  • System prevents using multiple codes

How Stacking Works

Step-by-Step:

  1. Apply first promotion code
  2. Discount is calculated and applied
  3. Apply second promotion (if stackable)
  4. Second discount calculated from remaining amount
  5. Final price calculated

Example Stacking:

Original Booking: €100

Promotion 1 (25% off, stackable):
Discount: €25
New Subtotal: €75

Promotion 2 (€10 off, stackable):
Discount: €10
Final Total: €65

Total Savings: €35

Stacking Rules

Rules to Know:

  • System validates if codes can stack
  • You'll see error if codes can't be combined
  • Stackable codes are clearly marked
  • Final discount cannot exceed booking total

Best Practice:

  • Try stacking if multiple codes available
  • System validates automatically
  • Error messages explain if stacking not allowed

Vouchers

What Are Vouchers?

Vouchers are stored-value instruments like gift cards.

Voucher Types:

  • Gift Cards: Purchased vouchers for gifting or personal use
  • Store Credit: Credit from refunds or promotions
  • Promotional Vouchers: Special vouchers from campaigns

Using Vouchers

Applying Vouchers:

  1. Enter voucher code during booking
  2. System checks voucher balance
  3. Voucher amount applied to booking
  4. Pay remaining balance with card (if needed)

Voucher Features:

  • Have stored balance (like a prepaid card)
  • Partial usage allowed (unused balance remains for later)
  • Often have an expiration date — check the terms on your voucher

Voucher Balance

How Balance Works:

Voucher Balance: €100
Booking Cost: €60
Applied: €60
Remaining Balance: €40 (available for future bookings)

Checking Balance:

  • Enter voucher code on booking page
  • System shows current balance
  • Balance updates after each use
  • Track balance across multiple bookings

Paying With a Voucher and a Card

You apply one voucher to a booking. If its balance doesn't cover the full total, the rest is charged to your card — you don't need to have the exact amount on the voucher.

Example:

Booking Total: €150

Voucher Balance: €80
Voucher Applied: €80
Voucher Remaining: €0

Remaining to Pay: €70 (charged to card)

If you have more than one voucher, use them across separate bookings — each keeps its own balance until it's spent.

Voucher Redemption

Redeeming Gift Cards:

  1. Receive voucher code when purchasing gift card
  2. Enter code when making booking
  3. Balance is applied automatically
  4. Remaining balance stays on voucher
  5. Use again for future bookings

From Refunds:

  • Sometimes refunds issued as voucher credit
  • New voucher code created
  • Credit can be used for future bookings
  • Any expiry is set by the venue and shown on the voucher

Getting Vouchers

Troubleshooting

Code Not Working

Common Issues:

  • Code expired
  • Minimum spend not met
  • Code doesn't apply to product
  • Usage limit reached
  • Code already used

What to Do:

  • Check code spelling (case doesn't matter)
  • Verify code hasn't expired
  • Check minimum spend requirement
  • Try different code if available
  • Contact support for help

Voucher Issues

If Voucher Doesn't Apply:

  • Check voucher code is correct
  • Verify voucher has balance

  • Contact support with voucher code

Stacking Problems

If Codes Won't Stack:

  • Check if codes are stackable
  • Some codes cannot be combined
  • System prevents invalid stacking
  • Try codes individually
  • Use the best single code if stacking not allowed

Common Questions

Can I use multiple promotion codes?

Some codes can be stacked, others cannot. The system will tell you if codes can be combined.

Do promotion codes expire?

Yes, most codes have expiration dates. Check the terms when you receive the code.

Can I use a code after booking?

Some codes can be applied to existing holds. Check your booking details page.

What if my voucher balance is less than booking cost?

You can use the voucher for partial payment and pay the remainder with a card.

Can I give my voucher to someone else?

Yes, vouchers can be transferred by sharing the voucher code. The recipient enters it when booking.

Do vouchers expire?

Often yes. Gift cards are valid for a set period after purchase (commonly 12 months), and other vouchers may have their own expiry dates. Always check the terms on your specific voucher.

Can I get a refund if I used a promotion code?

Refunds follow the cancellation policy. Promotional discounts are generally not refundable separately.

How do I know if a code is stackable?

The system validates automatically. If codes can't stack, you'll see an error message explaining why.
